Appointments...

To make a face-to-face or telephone appointment with a GP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner, please complete an online Econsult form, which can be found by clicking on one of the options on the blue Econsult banner at the bottom of the page.

You can request general Nurse appointments by telephone.

If you have received a letter or text message about an annual review appointment, please telephone the practice on one of the numbers above, to make an appointment. Please have your group details to hand.

We are now working in line with BMA safety guidance.

If you need a routine or an urgent appointment , please call the practice if you are:

  • A baby under 12 weeks old
  • Aged 80 or over
  • Receiving palliative care
  • Living in a nursing home

If Econsult is closed and you feel your problem is urgent, please call the practice. Our triage team will guide you to the most appropriate care using signposting GP guidance.

Current Waiting Times:

  • Routine GP Appointments: around 2 weeks
  • Prescription requests: 3 working days

An interpretation service is also available for use by patients.

eConsult

Accessing eConsult

eConsult can be accessed via our website on your computer, mobile or tablet device. You can get help or advice from your GP online and receive a response within 48 hours (excluding weekends).

How does it work?

  • You will have the option to get general advice, help for a specific condition or make an administrative request.
  • Once a condition is chosen, you can access self-help information, access local services and pharmacy advice, or get advice from your GP at the practice.
  • If selecting ‘treatment and advice from my GP’ you will be directed to complete an online form about your symptoms. You will need to confirm that you do not have any symptoms that require immediate or urgent care. Please answer questions as accurately as you can so we can find the best way to help you.
  • You will then complete the eConsult online form and provide your phone number and email address at the end.

What happens after an online consultation?

After a patient submits an online consultation, the practice reviews the request and decides on the most appropriate care. Examples of what this might be include:

  • an email reply with information on how you can manage your own symptoms
  • a prescription, available to collect from your pharmacy
  • a sick note is issued for collection from reception
  • a follow-up phone call or video call to ask further questions
  • a face-to-face appointment

Extended Hours

The practice offers a number of extended hours appointments. These appointments are general appointments which are available out with our normal practice hours between 07.30am and 08.00am. Should you require an extended hours appointment, please mention this in your Econsult.

Home Visits

If you think an immediate visit is required, please tell the receptionist. In cases of major injury or critical condition, it may be more appropriate to go directly to your local Casualty department. If an ambulance is required, dial 999.

House visits are for house bound patients or patients requiring end of life care. Our GP Practice is keen that we make the best use of our clinical staff allowing them to provide the most appropriate care to those most in need. For the vast majority of patients attending an appointment at the Surgery is the best option for them and for the Practice staff. Attending a surgery allows our clinical team to see many more patients in a day than if we are undertaking home visits. A doctor could see 4-6 other equally needy patients in the time it takes for a home visit.

  • Doctors are only able to consider home visits for medical reasons only
  • If you think you qualify for a home visit, please ring before 10am
  • All visits requested will be medically assessed to check if appropriate
  • The GP may need further information to triage your request correctly, ensure you leave a current mobile number to be contacted on.

If you think you may need a home visit

We would kindly ask any patient who is mobile (including using a walking aid, wheelchair or scooter) to see us in the surgery. If you are poorly and think you need an urgent same day visit, please ring your request through to the Practice.

Always provide a current landline/mobile number that the Doctor can reach you on.

Home visits, whilst convenient for patients, actually offer a poorer standard of care compared to surgery consultations. This is because of:

  • Poor facilities (e.g. poor lighting, lack of hygiene)
  • Lack of records and chaperones (required for safe care and examination)

The majority of consultations during home visit could easily and safely be carried out in the surgery.

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP.
